DETAILS: This game arrived from
a longtime collector in Illinois who was
looking to make room for some new additions.
Also arriving with this game was a
Battlezone (my 3rd overall), which was bought as an upgrade
to my previous Battlezone. A
local collector who comes over pretty often
is fanatical about Assault so this game will
be getting some serious play time in the
arcade.
COSMETIC
RESTORATION: Anything warranting a
cosmetic upgrade had already been performed
by the previous owner, so there was nothing
further that needed to be done to it.
ELECTRICAL
REPAIRS/UPGRADES: Installed Assault Plus
roms to the board set. Assault
Plus adds
the following enhancements over the original
release:
MECHANICAL
RESTORATION: Rebuilt and lubed the
right-hand controller per the manual.
SERIAL #ASTO886
FAST FACT: Assault uses a unique
control method and uses 'Mode 7' background
scaling and rotation effects like those
found in Super Famicom's games. The most
interesting feature is firing 'catapult'
bomb shots far away with the left joystick
pushed to the left side and the right
joystick to the right at the same time,
while pressing the fire trigger.
