DETAILS: This game came from a
long-time collector friend who was looking
to change out a few titles in order to make
way for some new ones. I bought
this game following the sale of a HUO
Asteroids that I had kept in the collection
for several years. After selling the
HUO specimen I wasn't really happy that the
collection didn't include an Asteroids, so
when this came up for sale I got it.
COSMETIC
RESTORATION: Replaced the
t-molding.
ELECTRICAL
REPAIRS/UPGRADES: Replaced the power filter capacitor.
An Asteroids high score save & extending
scoring kit is installed as well.
MECHANICAL
RESTORATION: Cleaned and serviced the
coin mechs.
SERIAL #UNKNOWN.
The serial number sticker on the cabinet was
missing when I received this game, and Atari
didn't place serial number stickers on the
power supply, R/A boards and/or game boards
until a few years after Asteroids., so it's
unknown what the serial number is.
However, because it has an "owl-eye"
style coin door it was produced earlier in
the run rather than later.
FAST FACT: Asteroids was the first
coin-op game that let players enter their
initials in the high score table.
