DETAILS: I bought this game
along with a Quantum from a local
collector friend who was looking to downsize
his collection. I had been
looking for a beautifully conditioned Food
Fight for some time, and was happy to have
been able to acquire it locally so I could
inspect all the amazing artwork firsthand.
In my opinion, this game employs one of the
Atari coin-op division's most stunning
artwork schemes.
Food Fight
was originally designed by General Computing
Corporation, who had infringed on Atari's
copyright of Missile Command when they made
"Super Missile Attack". Atari sued, and won,
and as part of the settlement General
Computing Corp. was mandated to develop 3
games for Atari. Those 3 games were Quantum,
Food Fight, and Nightmare (Nightmare was
never released).
COSMETIC
RESTORATION: Replaced the control
panel overlay (silkscreened Phoenix Arcade version).
ELECTRICAL REPAIRS/UPGRADES:
Replaced the power cord, the power filter
capacitor, the fluorescent lamp and lamp
starter, the coin door reject button lamps
and replaced the capacitors on the
Regulator/Audio II board. Also
recapped the 19" Disco monitor.
MECHANICAL
RESTORATION: Rebuilt and lubed the
analog joystick per the manual (click below
for full details).
SERIAL
#UR01319 This game has matching
serial numbers on the cabinet, the monitor
chassis, the monitor CRT, the game board and
board cage, the R/A pcb and the power
supply.
FAST FACT: Food Fight was the first
game to ever incorporate the instant replay
feature.
