DETAILS: I bought this game
along with a Food Fight from a local
collector friend who was looking to downsize
his collection. At the time, I
had another Quantum, but bought this one
because it was in such nice condition.
For full details about Quantum, including
photos of the 2 known pre-production models
that have different artwork, visit the
Quantum Registry page.

RESTORATION: Replaced the control
panel overlay (silkscreened Roy Kaplan/Tom
McClintock version).

Replaced the power cord, the power filter
capacitor, the fluorescent lamp and lamp
starter, both trak-ball optic pcbs, the coin door reject button lamps and replaced the capacitors on the
Regulator/Audio II board. Recapped and upgraded
the 19" Amplifone deflection and high voltage boards per
the Amplifone FAQ (see the Odds & Ends page)
and installed a fan below the deflection
board's power transistors.
MECHANICAL

rollers and bearings. Also replaced
the black ball with a translucent blue
ball and wired backlighting for it.
Cleaned and serviced the coin mechs.
SERIAL
#UR00341 This game has matching
serial numbers on the cabinet, the monitor
chassis, the monitor CRT, the Amplifone
defection and high voltage boards, the game
board and board cage, the R/A board and the power
supply.
FAST FACT: Quantum was originally
designed by General Computing Corporation,
who had infringed on Atari's copyright of
Missile Command when they made "Super
Missile Attack". Atari sued, and won,
and as part of the settlement General
Computing Corp. was mandated to develop 3
games for Atari. Those 3 games were
Quantum, Food Fight, and Nightmare
(Nightmare was never released).
