DETAILS:  This is one of 2 known Red Baron prototypes.  There was evidence of a serial number sticker on this game's cabinet but at some point in its life it had come off.  Furthermore, there were no serial number stickers on all the usual places one would be (i.e. board set, power supply, R/A board) so it's unsure what number this prototype is.  The other known prototype has a serial number sticker that reads "003" so it's safe to say at least 3 of these prototype uprights were made.

  COSMETIC RESTORATION:  Amazingly the previous owner of this game had acquired (via eBay) NOS Red Baron prototype side art.  That was an amazing stroke of luck not only to notice and win the auction, but also that it even surfaced at all.  As the left side of this cab had taken some abuse over the years I opted to replace that side art with a piece of the NOS artwork.  You can see before and after pictures here: |before| |after|.

  ELECTRICAL REPAIRS/UPGRADES:  Replaced the power cord, the power filter capacitor, the fluorescent lamp and starter, the coin reject button lamps, and replaced the capacitors on Regulator/Audio board as well the Electrohome G05-802 deflection and high voltage boards.  The high voltage diode to the transformer was also replaced, and the high voltage rectifier diodes were all upgraded.

  MECHANICAL RESTORATION:  The analog joystick received new linkages, a NOS centering bellows, and it was cleaned and lubricated with Nyogel 779 as specified.  The coin mechs were also cleaned and serviced.
