As long as AA batteries are around I wouldn't bother replacing the CMOS ram. You just need to replace the batteries every couple of years. I tell folks to change them once a year on their birthday, and at the same time to check their smoke detectors, etc. <br>

You can replace the batteries with the Supercaps, if you like, but again , that involves soldering and a tiny bit of mucking about. It's not bad, but some 5101's draw a bit of current and thus the supercaps discharge over a few weeks.<br>
