For home use, Radio Shack pots will work. For arcade use you buy the
$15 ones that have a much better lifetime.
It helps if you know what taper they are, usually either linear or
audio. Set the pot to the halfway point and measure the resistance from
the center terminal to one of the outer terminals. A linear pot will
read close to half resistance (in this case 2.5 Kohms). An audio taper
pot will measure WAY different.
