I've found that most customers prefer to have the board adapted for use with
a switching supply, despite the interchangeability side-effects. As long as
you provide a decent-quality power bypass harness that's well labeled,
moving the switching supply and board to a new cabinet someday will be easy
enough for even a non-technical owner. They'll especially like the
long-term reliability improvement, since you'd be eliminating that
overloaded edge connector from the picture. As always, YMMV...
