I'm having problems getting PROMLink to work with my Data I/O 29B with
UniPak 2B. The programmer part functions - I've be able to copy chips. I
am not sure if I have the right type of serial cable, but I am pretty
sure it expects to have a null modem cable. (The computer's COM port
works fine as I use it all the time on other devices). Basically, I put
the Data I/O into "Remote" mode and try a simple function in PROMLink. I
get a communication failure message. I've also checked, re-checked, and
then double checked the DIP settings on the Data I/O for parity, stop
bits, and power on mode. I did not see a setting for the number of data
bits though, so that is a variable I'm not sure of. I've made sure that
the dial in the back for baud rate is set to something low (and it
matches my computer) just in case.
Help. What am I missing? Copying ROMs is fine, but the real reason I
went to the Data I/O is so that I can burn both ROMs and PROMs from my
PC. Done this a million times with my last ROM burner but can't get this
one up.
TIA.
