Well, I was able to get the monitor up this weekend.. Since I'm not the most electrically inclined, I don't know exactly what all of my (monitor) problems were. I think it comes down to faulty new parts. At some point, the two Y chasis transistors failed (one of them shorted causing the frying R613 and R618). Also, as it turns out, 2 of my TIS 98 transistors that I bought from Bob Roberts were leaking some (installed at Q602 and Q603). The result was that there was 17vdc added to the Y input, which meant 35v was going through the fuse F600, instead of the 17v at F700.
Well, here's the bad news... As soon as I first saw a picture on the screen, I was so happy. I stopped to play a couple games (its an Asteroids Deluxe), and was ready to close it back up and return it to the wall. After I put the back door on and rotated it around, the game board died :( It now draws some stuff on the screen (letters and numbers, ships, etc) and then just freaks out and draws some random vectors. Then it trips the watchdog and resets. In test mode, it only shows a horizontal line, then it resets. I threw in another non-working board that comes up in test mode, so the monitor itself is still good. Any ideas? I want to check out the power supply to make sure it is still happy, but I think it probably is.
Anyway, thanks Rodger and John for the ideas.. And especially my brother Rob for walking me through fixing this thing (even though I only got a couple games in before it broke again).
Jon
