They may not be compatible. The "C" means it is made with CMOS
technology, requiring less power, but it also includes some instructions
that the original 6502 did not use. I don't know offhand if that will
really make a difference or not. If you've got another game that uses
the 6502, such as _Asteroids_ or _Lunar Lander_ or _Tempest_, you can
plug it in and try it out.
"A" and "B" suffixes mean the chip is rated to operate at higher clock
speeds.
