  I believe the texture is a type of paint (?) that dries in a wrinkle
finish. It's an industrial coating type of thing, so I'm not sure
about availability.

  From what I understand, you don't really need another oven, just a
little care, and the home oven shouldn't get messy. =) A second oven
is nice, but IIRC, there is no harmful leftovers from the
homekits. (Relying on old Hot Rod article and poor memory. =) I can
dig it out for ya if you want.)
