The dead machine gun sound is probably the 4066 at J5 on the AUX board,
or otherwise the 74LS02 at D3, or LM324 at K4, or surrounding.
I've had two Battlezone boards with the same problem, the explosion sound
was missing and the 4066 was faulty...
Pin 5 (input) on the 74LS02 should go high when the shot is made,
Pin 9 (output) on the 4066 should oscillate as the shot sound is made and
input
into the LM324 amp at K4.
If you have no input change on pin 5 of the 74LS02, then the problem is
further back, the 74LS273 at E3, 74LS139 at B5 or further
I love discrete sound sections!
