Re: Omega Race board repair...anyone?

By coincidence I also picked up an OR UR on the weekend. It has varying problems
on the CPU board due to acid damage.

You should disconnect the monitor first and power up the CPU board in SELF TEST
mode. Make sure you pre-test or monitor the +5V to see if it is OK. The SELF TEST
will tell you some details about the status of the RAM and ROMS. I'm not sure how
good a SELF TEST this is ... I kinda don't believe mine. It beeps/flashes 14 times but
that ROM's checksum is good. Now it complains about ALL of the program RAM too ....

Does anyone have any comments about OR testing or the SELF TEST being accurate?
I checked on deja.com and in the VectorList archives but there does not seem to be
alot of good fix-it info for OR in either location. :-(

Also if there is no sound, like on mine, do yourself a favour and check the rusty fuse
holders ...they might need replacing. Ohm between the fuse and the wire and not just
across the fuse itself.

If you do any fixes, please post a TECH FIX here or on RGVAC so others like myself
can benefit from your experience. I'll do the same ... assuming I do fix the !@#$%.
