RE: Monitor Questions

For your AD:

 - Install a cap kit on the monitor boards and replace all the deflection
transistors (4 large ones mounted to the chassis, 4 small ones on the
deflection amp w/ heat sinks).

 - Check all solder joints on both the HV & deflection amp boards,
ESPECIALLY the joints around the pins for the various connectors. For any
joint that is suspect, remove the old solder, clean, and flow in fresh
solder. I'd do this on the connector pin solder joints, regardless.

 - Install a get well kit for your power supply (my CT has an A/R 3 in it).
Test the voltages when complete.

 - Replace the power cord. It is just plain dumb that people cut off the
ground -- it was put there for a reason.

Of the items listed above, most are WISE preventative MAINTENANCE to an XY
game (I'm not preaching -- just emphasizing -- I've learned the hard
way...). I'd guess that your problem is related to your power supply board
putting out incorrect/fluctuating voltages.
