If you run an XY monitor in the cabinet with the output transistors
unplugged you will destroy the driver transistors and probably some
resistors and other bits will blow up as well. BUT you can run an XY
monitor with the inputs shorted to ground and the YOKE ONLY unplugged with
no risk to the electronics, or far less risk as there is no load for them
to try and sink vast amounts of current (whatever the power supply can
deliver without blowing up itself), which is also the reason to install the
LV2000 kit!
