Chris,
The reason I would use 20a outlets is to allow for a 20a breaker. By my
thinking (and I'm NOT an electrician), if I have games sucking down 9amps
from each outlet in a duplex, I haven't exceeded my 20a wire, but I have
exceeded a 15a outlet. My concern would be overheating of the outlet causing
a problem, more likely a ruined outlet than a fire over a long period of
time.
Yes, at home very few appliances are 20a (big coffee makers,
refridgerators). My goal here is to run as few circuits as I can and allow
some room for growth. Also I want to be able to plug in a vacuum clean or
something and not trip a breaker.
