Tubes should be transported with the face down, the method used in this box
could cause problems if the tube box was dropped, I can see the neck
breaking as it is too close to the side of the box.
Looks nice, but is NOT how the manufacturers of picture tubes ship them.
I'll dig out one of my tube boxes someday (projects, projects...) and take
a shot or two, but basically the tube sits face down, has a plastic film on
the front glass and the front glass is fitted into a curved cardboard
support. Then there are four sections of cardboard that fit together into a
double box shape that snuggles up to the bell of the picture tube about 1/4
of the way down the bell, and braces the tube in the center of the box and
the frame fits snuggly to the inside of the carton. When the tube is packed
like that you can drop it about six feet with no real risk...
