I toyed with this idea a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure I
have the ROM image around, if you haven't found it yet.
However, I think the value of the CAT Box in debugging is highly
overrated. I'd still love to get my hands on a CAT Box because it's sort
of collectible, but I don't think the CAT box can do anything you can't do
with a Fluke 9010 and an HP signature analyzer, and I think you'd even
come out cheaper than what you'd wind up paying for a CAT box on eBay, and
be able to get one for considerably less work than what it would take to
build one.
