Lunar Lander pot on controller

Anyone know what the Variable Resistor (Specially
Modified) is on the Lunar Lander analog thrust
controller? Mine seems to be missing and the manual
only gives the above description of the part.

Anyone have a value, or know what is 'specially
modified' on this pot?
