Hi Dan, well you got a long road ahead of you but if you keep looking I am
sure one day you will find what you are looking for. I basically did the same
thing but mine was a little more complete but it had been converted to a
JAMMA game and had a Joystick where the spinner should be but thank goodness
they left the side art and monitor bezel intact. Here are a few things that
come to mind that may help with your project. Get a cockpit manual for two
reasons, one the wiring harness is a little different on the cockpit version
and two it has some great drawings of the cabinet parts and general layout of
the parts. Now about the spinner, their is a difference in the spinners
between the upright and the cockpit but you can use either one. The only real
difference is the position of the connector where the wiring harness plugs
into it. I current have an upright spinner in my cockpit so it will fit but
takes a little effort to get it in. Do you have the component shelf that
slides inside the seat? This board is removable and has all the components
mounted to it, the card cage, powersupply, power transformer and the control
panel interface board. If you cant find one you can make one but I was lucky
enough to find one with all the components still mounted. The card cages are
all the same except for the top cover and that's where the wiring harness
difference comes into play. The cockpit and the original dedicated upright
has a flat top and a bracket on the side that has 3 big square Molex
connectors. The Star Trek Deluxe Kits have a 44 pin edge connector in the top
and the wiring harness plugs into this slot. I have a few pictures on my web
page that may help and I can take some more detailed pictures as you need
them. It may take a wile as it is now in the garage behind my MACH 3 cockpit.
I am kind of out of space right now so everything is packed in tight :-) .

If you do find someone parting out a cockpit I could also use a couple of
parts or some pictures so I know which parts I really need. Mine was missing
the coin box. I know I could just use anything that will fit but I would
rather have an original but I don't know what it looks like or what holds it
in place. Mine was also missing the coin box door, the one at the rear bottom
of the monitor base, I know its just a piece of wood and I can make one that
works but again I want it to be an exact copy of the original but I don't
have one and have never seen one. I try to keep a game as close to original
as I can.
Good luck with your project and let me know if I can be of any help.
Sam
