Part of the problem is that I'm not sure where the problem lies. I started
out thinking it was a monitor problem, because it came up the same way with
two different main boards. But the monitor works fine on a known-good BZ
game. So either I've got two main boards with the exact same problem (seems
unlikely), or the problem lies elsewhere. I've also tried two different R/A
II boards and two different power supply assemblies; same problem.
So now I'm thinking it has to be: A) the wiring harness/edge connectors; B)
the aux board. As far as I can tell, there's no way a shrunken picture
problem could be caused by the aux board, so I've got new edge connectors on
the way from Bob Roberts. I'll rebuild the wiring harness and see where that
gets me. If it doesn't work, you'll all be hearing from me again ;)

Get a can af componant cooler, start spraying things to cool them down until
it works again.
