They're Intel EPROMs, labelled as:
D2716-1 (ie 100ns)
So speed surely can't be the issue here.
They bit and blank check okay when erased and work okay if used as the main
program ROMs.
I'll hint around and see if I can find any different ones.
Just out of interest, what is the minimum speed for the program EPROMs? 200ns?
