Tempest sounds tinny

I've always thought the sound of my Tempest machine was off, compared to the
to the other Atari games the sound is flat with no base. But i haven't seen
another Tempest to compare it to.

I've put up a .mp3 of my machine -- can any other Tempest owner give a
listen and tell me if it sounds OK? At a 1:10 in I have some of my Space
Duel machine for comparison.

The speaker isn't original, it's a one of those car speakers popular some
years ago, three way in a single oval, and it is 8 ohm. I'm fairly sure the
speaker is supposed to be 4 ohm. Would that make a big difference in the
sound ?

Digikey actually has a 6x9 oval 4 ohm speaker for about $17, which I may use
to round out my cap order if it would help.
