I was getting 100+ spams a day on my main email address, which I didn't want to
give up, so I started using TMDA (very cool BTW! -- www.tmda.net)
Well my spam count went down to zero (!), but the header files on mailings list
were sometimes falling through the cracks, and I notice some posts were being
bounced.
I could probably fix the filters, but to keep from causing any more havoc I
created an unfiltered address just for mailing lists, if it starts getting
spammed I'll do something about it then.
I apologize to anyone that received a bounce from me when posting to the list,
(and to the list-owner himself!) and for any obnoxious "confirmation messages"
any of you might have got!
(The same goes for any of you on the "techtools" list, since I can't seem to
subscribe or unsubscribe from it. John probably cut me off after a couple of
bounces! ;-)
Sorry people!
-Zonn
PS: I believe the main reason for the number of spams I get is from the posting
of the old Vectorlist to the net without munging the email addresses. I can
pretty much correlate my spam count back to that time, and since it's still out
there, the number of spams have been increasing exponentially as more crawlers
find it each year. Before that I was careful never to let that address out into
the wild...oh well!
PPS: Other than the mailing list problems, there's been no false negatives
(bounces) and no false positives (spam). It's very cool I've gone from 100 to
200 emails a day down to my normal 5-10 *real* emails!
