G08 HV --hacked, or did it come this way ?

Started recapping my G08 this afternoon, and found a number of componants on
the solder-side -- near one of the big caps there's a transistor and cement
resistor, a number of diodes and other resistors.

The 'hacks' of this type on the deflection board are detailed in the FAQ,
but there's no mention of any to the HV. Did the boards come from the
factory this way, or is this some hack someone added later ?
