I was going to suggest the same thing. I've had problems with the Rev 3 input
protection circuit in the past. I usually disable it since it doesn't provide
much protection as is, and keeps you from running earlier versions of Tempest.
*If* this is a Rev 3 deflection board you can try unsoldering and lifting one
leg on each of the diodes 805 - 808 (I think that's right, check the schematic
to be sure). If it's not a Rev 3 board, these diodes won't exist, and the new
protection circuit is obviously not your problem.
