Tempest, periodic ROM errors

I have a Tempest that works nicely almost all the time. Every couple months
it kicks up a ROM error. If I pull the ROM and re-seat it, it works again
for another month or two, then complains about a different ROM.

The voltages look fine all around, and the interboard connectors all check
out. I've reseated all the ROMs once or twice, but it still complains about
one randomly every so often.

Any ideas? All I can think is that the ROM pins or sockets are making weak
connections, but thought I'd ping the group first. I'd rather not get a new
ROM set or replace all the sockets unless I have to.
