no you cant,

the speeds go like this:

74xx - original and slow
74LSxx - low power and faster
74Sxx - faster still
74Fxx - the fastest.

so you can use a 74F04 if you have one.

HC and HCT are something else again, you can use HCT instead of LS in most cases - but not allways.
