Subject: VECTOR: Amplifone FAQ
Can someone kindly point me to the most recent copy of the
Amplifone FAQ, since my Amplifone (in my Star Wars)
died today. :(
It's been rock solid for 4 years, since I had a local tech (good
guy and really knows what he's doing) go through it, fix two
deflection boards (always good to have a spare), the HV unit,
replaced the red (it was only dead, because I killed it!), etc.
I checked all fuses (deflection PCB, cabinet block, etc.) and
they are fine. Swapped out deflection PCB and get the same
constant and loud deflection chatter as the first deflection PCB.
I get no neck glow and the light on the deflection PCB does
go out after a second or two. I assume I'm not getting any
HV, but there are no signs of damage, burned components,
etc. on the HV. I reseated all cable connections (the neck
board wasn't flush with the tube, but a little push fixed that,
but didn't help the problem any). I didn't turn-up the brightness
on the HV, since I assumed it wouldn't help, since I'm getting
no neck glow.
I never smelled anything burning, so this may have actually
died a few weeks ago when a friend was staying with us (have
no idea). I mention this, since I can't use that to help track
back the problem. :(
Sorry for the newb post, but I am looking for the FAQ to
help me fix it (worked mostly with WG61xx so far).
