Asteroids speedup PCB question.

I am going through a stack of defective Asteroids boards and I have a few
with the speedup mod PCB attached. These are the one with the 2 ICs and a pot.
 But, I have another board that actually replaced a TTL and has less jumper
wires (just 2?) and several TTL and no pot, but a dipswitch. Anything
notable about this mod?
