I have an amplifone in my cockpit star wars (currently a 19", someday to
become a 25") that has been working fine for years.
Last week my nephew was playing it and the screen went out. At first I
thought it might be the HV, but there was a dot in the center of the
screen.
A week later I got around to checking it out and discovered that both
fuses just before the yoke were blown. I replaced the fuses and
unplugged the yoke and turned it back on. I turned it on and everything
seemed to be OK (nothing got warm) so I turned it off, plugged in the
yoke, turned it on and one of the fuses instantly went. I couldn't find
any more 3 amp fuses, so I thought I would try a 5 amp and keep an eye
on things. I turned it on and the other 3 amp fuse blew and the 2 main 5
amp fuses on the deflection board blew.
I don't think it has anything to do with the yoke since both channels
blow fuses, but they only go when it's plugged in.
I also checked the video output from the PCB on my scope and it looks
good.
Any suggestions as to what I should be looking for?
Thanks
-Jeff
