Re: VECTOR: Arghhhhhhhhhh!sound like a plan, I was thinking a small spring pushing a pin against the broken pin might do the trick.
Thanks John

While testing the new transformer I snapped the focus pin of my 25" star wars CRT! bugger!
The tube still has vacuum and I can see the end of the pin in the glass, has anyone got a good tip for fixing this?
REALLY TINY WELDING...or...
You might get by with a copyrighted John's Jukes LTD. (AKA Flippers.com) Kludge.
Use the broken off pin in in the socket sticking out a bit so it will touch the broken leg, then put a drop of conductive silver or copper repair liquid (such as the expensive pen or the car window defogger repair kits) on the pin. Now put some silicone (RTV) glue on the socket and press the sucker home. Hold it in place for 24 hours to set. Really BIG elastics? Test the process first of course.
This is a kludge fix, but with RTV you can cut the glue seal and separate the neck socket from the tube in case the focus connection fails again in the future. You MUST glue the socket to the tube base so the focus pin is held firmly to the broken pin and the silver/copper paint bond.
