When you do tidy up your grounds make sure you have a SOLID connection
to the power supply ground. This ground point is the master ground tie
point and all ground/common connections should radiate from it. Called a
Star Connection I believe.
Try to avoid daisy chaining grounds - this will avoid some ground loops.
