I assume he means the over-deflecting points between rounds (turn up the brightness and you'll see a giant diagonal extending a screen length or more off the corner). Some monitors collapse with it, some don't... either change the roms or look at the monitor in greater detail, i've never isolated the issue before apart from putting a different pcb in the problem cab...

I think someone has already done this and the changes are only to a couple of Roms. I must have a strange Tempest; never seen this bug in the 25 years that I've owned it. It does tend to roast the x/y transistors in the monitor every six months... I'm trying some MJE3003/4s this time... I am helping a friend restore a Tempest, and we've got the "screen collapse" bug when the machine goes from player 1 to player 2 in a 2 player game. Currently, the board is loaded with rev 2 roms, all 2716's. The board is strapped for 2716's, and I really didn't want to get into strapping it for 2532's, but I would like to upgrade his rom set to rev 3. Does anyone have rev 3 images are in 2716 format?
