Hi Colin (& list)
I also saw the "NOS" 25" Ampli tubes on the site so mailed asking for more
information and tried to place an order. I asked whether the glass and yokes
are NOS or remakes and similar questions for the HT and deflection boards.
That was about a week ago and I've still not received a response :( However,
from re-reading the pages (possibly before they re-jigged and pulled some
pages) it seems that he's having new tubes and yokes made. So they're
definitely not NOS found in a timewarp warehouse somewhere. But he did say
they'd passed his QA so were moving into production. I believe he also
mentions that the HT and deflection boards are remakes with uprated and
modern equivalents. I wonder what he's done about the MRC?
Without wanting to disparage David and his business, I can only confirm that
people have had delivery of T-molding (for Star Wars cockpit) as well as a
yoke rebuild kit (circa 8 month delay on that though). I've not heard of
anybody with a full repro yoke, nor any of the other parts that are
advertised. It seems that he has the best of intentions and just needs a
good business manager to handle the boring side whilst he's out and about
doing QA, negotiating production runs and generally getting his hands dirty.
He's got a killer portfolio and if he can deliver it I'm sure he's going to
be very successful.
cheers
tim
ps This is my inaugural post to VectorList and I'd just like to say how much
I appreciate all the contributions people make. I've been read-only for
quite a while and learnt some very useful information, so thanks!
