Asteroids Deluxe / V2000 problem

Anybody ever seen this before?

Monitor has been recapped, new HV diode, new deflection power transistors
(U07/U57s), new big blue, AR-II board and game board have also been capped.
Problem has only gotten worse -- video is out of date, now the left 1/4 of the
screen is crushed in. Test pattern shows up normally for the most part, it's
not as smashed in as the game is, but the left edge sort of pulsates back and
forth...

Recently picked up a cheap non-working AD board from ebay and repaired it.
Backup board exhibits the same behavior, which points back to the monitor. But
then recently I've had a friend swap in their deflection board and HV cage with
no change.

Any ideas?
