Re: WG6100 testing

So we pulled the offending transistor today, and it seems the problem
was my friend was rather sloppy with the heat sink compound, and it
was all over the pins of TO-3 transistor. I made him pull all 6 of
those transistors, clean them, and re-insert them, and test them
all again.

All the transistors now made good connections in the socket, but when
I checked to make sure there was no case to ground short, the transistor
that had previously not been making contact was now shorted to ground, and
pulling it showed the entire transistor had shorted. Weird.

We had a spare 2n3716 sitting around, so we installed that. We powered
it up like before, and the spot killer came on as expected.

We hooked up the Wico X-Y Pattern Generator, and we heard chatter in
the deflection coils (which is good!), but the spot killer stayed on. :-(

I'll read through the FAQ and other docs I have, but if anyone has
any additional things to check, let me know. This can't be that
hard to find, there aren't thay many components in the spot killer
circuit. :-)

I also finished getting my WG6100 together (sans the IPC board which
I now have, but haven't yet duplicated, so I don't wanna install it
yet) and I'm happy to report that it worked like a champ when I plugged
it into the Wico patter generator. It had pretty bad pincushioning, but
I'll worry about that once I get the entire game back together. I should
be able to do that soon, as I am almost finished cleaning the mess left
behind by some rodents. I think I'll have spent more time cleaning it
than fixing it by the time I'm done. :-(

Thanks!
