That's actually a great idea but, I have no access to an EPROM programmer. I
really like the prospect of only dealing with one EPROM/socket for the game
program. Plus, I might be able to add the Tempest Tubes hack. I wonder if I
can buy a pre-programmed 512K EPROM. Thanks, Matt.

You may want to try the single-EPROM upgrade that eliminates all the 2716s. I've
seen it done and it works. You can even download the file for the 27512 or
whatever it is from somewhere. That way you have to work on only one socket.

I have a Tempest game that (surprise) has been difficult to keep running. When
it fails, I'll pull the boards out, remove all the socketed proms, clean them

Last time, I was seeking a more permanent solution so I reflowed all the solder
connections on the prom sockets and the interboard connectors. It worked for a
couple of months but now, it has failed again. I know it's the proms again
because the self test works fine. It's just when I switch to game mode that the
screen goes blank.
