It all depends on the source of the AC voltages that the person in
interested in reading.
If they are on the secondary side of a transformer then isolation is
normally not required. You just have to watch out for the common point
- if using two probes monitoring two different voltages (AC/DC) both
must share the same common otherwise current can flow...
Atlan did not mention reading the line side when he was asking about
reading AC voltages.
