hi all..
I have a really odd problem here with a Sidam Asterock pcb that just
wont coin up, let alone start.
In test mode, i can activate the L and R coin switches and hear the
'beep' verifying that the cpu can 'see' the coin switches being open and
closed. All other inputs also beep in test mode correctly.
In my fluke 9100 i read the input port addresses and found that
'Center Coin' was jammed on, this is an input to a mux'er that is left
floating on Asterock as the pcb only has inputs/tracking for Left and
Right coin inputs. When i tied this floating input to ground, the center
coin was no longer jammed on. All other inputs verify working on my
fluke completely normally (my test program is for Atari Asteroids) This
verifies the test mode operation in that the game can see/read all the
inputs correctly. Asterock test mode doesn't seem to care if this input
is floating or not. It wont coin up with this input tied or left floating..
The game still refuses to coin up... Asterock has no 'free play' mode,
so unfortunately i can't just put it in freeplay mode and hit start...
Does anyone have any insight into how the game code coins up? Is it
different to Asteroids? how can the test mdoe read the coin input but
not register credits in-game?
help! :)
