Amplifone zener diode mod

I am seeing a couple of different values shown for the mod:

(from the Atari field service bulletin)

1N754A 6.8V .5w zener Qty 2

1N756A 8.2V .5w zener Qty 2

The Amplifone faq v 1.2 says (used for all 4)

1N5342B 7.5V 5 Watt but that number is actually 6.8V. A 7.5V would be
1N5343B.

I can see splitting the voltage difference to only use one part but a factor
of 10 increase in wattage?

Thoughts?
