RE: Major Havoc test mode

Okay, let me look at the source and see what the issue is... here is my
early guess...

Your gamma processor isn't running correctly. The general way that the
Alpha and Gamma work is that they both do their power up stuff and
determine if they are good enough to run by testing each of their RAM
and ROM. I think that the Gamma has a certain amount of time to write to
the communication buffer a value and then the Alpha should write back
within a certain amount of time, they they are both happy and go along
their merry way.

Since the video is on the Alpha CPU and the sound is on the Gamma. I
think your Alpha is dead and perhaps since the Gamma is not receiving
the handshake from the Alpha in the predetermined amount of time, then
it goes into 'freak out' mode which is the sound of the 'beep beep beep'
used normally in gameplay for Mhavoc but continuous.

I will look at the code now and report back...

It's Rapid continuous beeps. Right from the start, not like a
beep-beep-beep-boop

it's BeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeepBeep

I'm familiar with the normal beep codes of atari vectors, this ain't
it..

Plus I can run fluke tests on the ram comes back good.

The beeps mean that there is a RAM error of some sort I believe.

Ok I'm not having any luck with this thing at all.

No video in test mode

In fact when you put it in test mode you get a rapid succession of beeps
for about 4-5 seconds, then it stops beeping.

It's not watchdogging

I've been able to fluke the program roms, and rams, and even the paged
roms with good sigs

Not sure how or if I can check sigs on 106 107 and 110

on the gamma side I can check 108 just fine.

If the gamma processor isn't communicating, I would think I would still
have video showing me that the gamma isn't communicating..

Lost.
