DETAILS: This game arrived in
really nice condition and the artwork
overall was in great shape, although, most
all the artwork had discolored a bit over
time as is the case with all mid-late 80's
Atari side art and overlays (see this thread
to see how the seat side art really
looked back in 1987:
APB Seat Decal / Sticker).
In November,
2009, Rich at ThisOldGame reproduced the
side art for APB and has plans to also
reproduce the control panel and marquee
overlays, as well as the seat side art.

COSMETIC
RESTORATION: Powder coated the
pedal assembly parts, the monitor vents and
the seat stand and applied new rubber
matting and chrome t-molding to the seat, as
well as new chrome t-molding to the cabinet.

ELECTRICAL REPAIRS/UPGRADES: Replaced the
power cord, both 60 Watt incandescent lamps
for the marquee, and the coin door reject button
lamps. Also installed a new Neotec
19''
NT-500DXi9 Tri-Sync
monitor and rebuilt the Triac pcb (most
every APB I've seen has needed a Triac pcb
rebuild in order to make the marquee
function properly. Click on the below

MECHANICAL
RESTORATION: Rebuilt the steering
assembly with a NOS steering housing, NOS
large and small Thompson bearings and a NOS
steering wheel cap. Also rebuilt the
pedal assembly (click on "APB Restoration"
above for more details).

FAST FACT:
APB was Dave
Theurer's (creator of Missile Command, I,
Robot & Tempest) last game at Atari Games.
He went on to work on the 'DeBabelizer' for
Macromedia with other Atari alumni.
