Hoping someone experienced with Sega's G80 System can help me out. This is
my first foray into the world of the Sega convert-a-game system, so I am
still learning. :-)
I've got the guts out of an Astro Blaster I am trying to get up and running.
Before testing out the boards, I wanted to make sure the Power Supply/Audio
Amp board was working properly. I've tested all the voltages and all are
ok, so I moved onto the audio amp portion.
I wanted to quickly hook up a speaker to see if I got any sort of hum or
feedback out of the speaker hoping that it would at least give me a
prelimianry indication whether or not the amp was working. Weird thing is,
as soon as I hook up the speaker connector to the header on the PS board,
the main fuse in the AC junction box blows. None of the fuses on the PS
blow - they are all fine. Replace the blown fuse (yes I have the correct
amperage fuse) and leave the speaker un-plugged and it is fine. Plug it in
again and the fuse blows. I do get a few seconds of feedback out of the
speaker before the fuse goes.
Any one have an idea of where to start troubleshooting?
