Well Jeez, I managed to get my Defender working perfectly (no more
resetting, failed RAM tests, etc..) after:
* Removing the power supply board completely
* Tinning the leads so they soldered nicely to the power supply
* Reseating and cleaning all connectors in the cabinet
* Adjusting the voltage output so the 12 volt rail wasn't 14 volts, the 5
volt rail wasn't 6 volts, and the -5 volt rail wasn't -6 volts
* Reseating/cleaning all of the EPROMs on the ROM board
The game is working perfectly now except for one annoying problem - THE
CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK! I'm getting 4.97 volts to the 6821 on the control
board as I'd expect.
Did I just do something stupid? From what I can tell, the ROM board is
powered from the main CPU board, so everything SHOULD be OK! Any thoughts
would be greatly appreciated.
