That is kinda what I thought. I know the capkits are what most people
recommend for aging monitors anyway. Since this does involve removing
the PCB, you are right that I would rather have someone else do it or
perhaps show me how. Can standard TV repairman do this, or does
anyone know of someone in the San Antonio, TX area? I also happen to
have a vector monitor that needs a degauss but Ms. Pac-Man is the one
I seem to be playing much more often as of late. Of course, I guess
at that point that cost might approach the price of a new monitor,
but thought I would check just the same.
If I were to do this myself, would discharging the monitor from the
insulator cup also discharge the capacitors I need to replace?
