RE: Programming the Fluke 9100 - Am I out of luck?

I don't remember the exact error message, but I know for sure that you
cannot enter edit mode without the keyboard attached. And the keyboard is
specific to the 9100A. You cannot use a regular PC keyboard (I've tried).
I don't know about the monitor, but it wouldn't do you any good without it
because the edit mode runs entirely on the monitor screen. You should be
able to tell if you have the programming option by looking for the 9 pin
D-type connection (like a serial port) on the back. That is the monitor
connector and the programming option is really just a monitor card and (I
think) some additional software.

Hope this helps,
-Chris

PS - If anyone understands keyboard interfacing and might be able to figure
out what makes the Fluke keyboard special (and hopefully make an adapter for
normal keyboards), let me know. I have a Fluke keyboard, minus keys, that I
can loan out if someone is serious about the project.

Subject: Programming the Fluke 9100 - Am I out of luck?

I'm hoping that someone else with a Fluke 9100
system can answer some questions:

Even though the option sticker on the back of my case lists the
-004 (programming) option and 4mB of RAM, it looks
like someone has pulled them both out. When I hit
the EDIT key, I get a "EDIT OPTION NOT INSTALLED"
error. Even though I don't have the programmer's keyboard or
monitor, I would think it would still enter the EDIT mode without
them if the -004 software was really installed. Can anyone that *does*
have this option check to see what happens when you try to
enter the EDIT mode without the keyboard and monitor attached?

It looks like without EDIT mode this thing might be no more powerful
than a 9010A. Apparently, you can't even use the RS-232 ports to
transfer data unless you get into EDIT mode. Best case, I can save
key sequences on floppies and not much more.

Or am I (hopefully) missing something?
