I have posted a bmp with my current schematic plans
based on the AT90S2323 part. The only draw back to this part is that it
does not have a built in UART. So one will have to be written in software,
anyone with a good AVR background want to tackle that? I am sure I can do
it, but it might take me a while.

If I can't come up with a software UART solution I
can change over to the 2313 part which has a built in UART. Of course the
part is also 20 pin instead of the tiny 8 pin 2323 with lots of left over pins
wasted.

I will be basing the software off of one of the
atmel application notes: AVR313. That note is for the 8515 part (a 40 pin part)
but I think I can adapt it well enough (once again assuming a software UART can
be written).
