Yes, The big xfmr has 46VAC CT that feeds the monitor, so keep that.
It also has taps to feed the regulator board (the linear part) & audio
amp.
You can't drive the monitor with a switcher, but you can use a switcher
to
drive the logic PCB's in the cage, this way you will have cleaner more
stable power supplies. The idea is if the linear fails, the logic may go
'wild' causing the monitor into drawing beyond its limits thereby
toasting
itself.

I think what's confusing me also is the recent discussion about
replacing
the linar PS with a switcher to save the G08 monitor. Yet,
according to the
schematic, and the wires I do have, it looks like the monitor
just takes
45VAC from the transformer.
Does that big honking transformer actually go, or is it the
power supplied
to the vector generator that kills the monitor when it goes out
of whack ?
